Effective Date: August 30, 2026

At Dead Souls Daily, we believe your existential dread is your own business. We have designed this application to function with maximum privacy and minimal data collection. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our mobile application and website.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not require you to create an account, nor do we ask for your name, email address, or phone number to use the core application. We do not track your location, and we do not sell any data to third-party advertisers.

2. Local Device Storage

The core features of Dead Souls Daily are intentionally designed to be offline-first. The following data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers:

3. Subscription and Purchase Data

If you choose to purchase a Premium Archive subscription (whether Annual or Lifetime), the transaction is processed entirely by the store you downloaded the App from — Apple’s App Store on iPhone and iPad, or Google Play on Android. We do not have access to your credit card information, billing address, or personal financial data on either platform.

To verify your active subscription and unlock the Archive, we use a secure third-party service called RevenueCat. RevenueCat generates an anonymous App User ID to confirm your purchase status. You can read RevenueCat’s privacy policy in full.

4. Crash and Diagnostic Data

When the App stumbles — crashes, freezes, or otherwise embarrasses itself — we use a third-party service called Sentry to receive a technical report of the failure. These reports include information about your device (model, operating system version, app version) and the state of the App at the moment of its collapse. They do not include your name, your email address, or the contents of your Saved Sorrows, and they are never used to track you across other apps or websites. We read them solely to repair what has broken. You can read Sentry’s privacy policy in full.

5. Analytics

To understand which parts of the App people actually use, and so to improve it, we use a third-party service called PostHog. PostHog acts as a data processor on our behalf, and the data is held on their servers in the European Union.

We record four things and nothing else: when the upgrade screen is shown, and which part of the App opened it; when it is closed without a purchase; when a purchase is completed, and which plan; and when a quote is shared, and whether as an image or as text. Each of those carries the platform you are using, the version of the App, and an identifier generated by PostHog that is specific to your installation. That identifier means this data is pseudonymous rather than truly anonymous, which we would rather say plainly than claim otherwise.

We do not collect your name, your email address, or any advertising identifier. No profile is built about you, none of this is combined with data from other apps or websites, and none of it is sold or shared with advertisers or data brokers. The quotes you read, save, or share are not recorded. Analytics data is deleted after 12 months. You can read PostHog’s privacy policy in full.

6. Website Forms

If you choose to submit your email address via the forms on our website (deadsoulsdaily.com) — whether to join the waitlist or to lodge a support grievance — your email is collected solely for the purpose of responding to you and notifying you about app updates and availability. We will not sell, rent, or distribute this email to third parties. Our website forms are securely processed via Netlify.

7. Your Rights & Data Deletion

Because your Saved Sorrows and settings are stored locally, you have complete control over them. You can permanently delete this data at any time simply by uninstalling the Dead Souls Daily app from your device.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may occasionally update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. When we do, we will revise the "Effective Date" at the top of this page.
